6 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari Takes you to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls National Park (MFNP), Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) and Lake Mburo National Park for an opportunity to spot the ‘’Big five’’ African animals (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard) by land.   By boat, on the Nile River at MFNP and through Kazinga channel in QENP you will have a close-up experience with one of the world’s largest concentrations of hippos, as well as Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffalos and other wildlife along the banks of the water.  Cultural experiences will include visiting the city of Fort Portal and the Tooro Palace, home to the Omukama of Tooro Kingdom; the youngest king in the world.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park and Ziwa rhino sanctuary.

You will be picked up from the hotel early in the morning after your breakfast and set off for Murchison Falls National Park. On your way to the park, you will branch off to Ziwa rhino sanctuary. In Nakasongola District, near Nakitoma Village is where you will get a moment to track these beautiful animals. The white Rhinos became extinct in Uganda’s national parks in 1980, but conservationists and the government through Uganda wildlife authority took the few that had remained and transferred them to the sanctuary for better protection. There are about 18 rhinos in the sanctuary at the moment and there is a plan to reintroduce them in Uganda’s game parks in the future.

Lunch will be at the sanctuary before proceeding to Murchison falls national park and drive straight to the top of Murchison Falls “also known as Kabalega Falls”. This is where the Nile forces its way through a gap in the rocks that is only 8 meters wide, and tumbles 43 meters before flowing westward into Lake Albert. You will have a clear and closer view of the falls from the top. Later after the endless videos and pictures, you will head to your lodge for dinner and rest till the next day.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and afternoon Boat Cruise

After an early morning cup of hot tea / coffee, you will leave for an early morning game drive looking for the early morning riser.  As you head out for the game drive, you will be in position to spot animals like the buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas, Rothschild giraffes, Oribi, Kobs and waterbucks together with some bird species along the way with some feeding together with the big animals.

After you will head back for breakfast and rest at the lodge till lunch is served. In the afternoon you head for a Boat ride along the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the falls.  This Boat ride on River Nile goes for 3 hours and you will be able to see some Nile crocodiles, numerous hippos, as well as various bird species. You will then return for dinner and the overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Fort Portal and Visit the Tooro Palace

Today you will wake up and have breakfast at your lodge. Thereafter check out of the lodge driving through the southern sector of the park. You will drive through Hoima on your way to Fort Portal and you may stop over for lunch or have it in Fort Portal. Thereafter you will head to the Tooro Palace which is situated at Karuzika Hill overlooking Fort Portal on the Fort Portal – Kasese Road. Today Tooro Palace is open for tourists, which is also home to the Omukama of Tooro Kingdom, the youngest king in the world. Fort Portal is also Uganda’s tourism city to the its natural beauty and natural wonders.

You will later relax at the lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and afternoon boat cruise

Thereafter, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth expecting a clear view of the Rwenzori Mountains during your journey. On arrival, you will have lunch at the lodge and then head for an afternoon boat cruise at Kazinga Channel.

The boat cruise takes about 2 hours as you get to explore a number of animals while cruising on Kazinga channel. You will spot more hippos today than you can possibly imagine. Herds of elephants and buffaloes will also wander down to the shoreline to bathe in the cooling waters. Kazinga Channel, which flows through the park and connects Lake George in the East to Lake Edward in the West, attracts a rich array of birds and animals, including the infamous Nile crocodile and one of the world’s largest concentrations of hippos. Later return to the lodge with a short evening game drive, Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most visited game reserve and arguably the most scenic. The national park protects the vast savannah plains, bushland, wetlands, and forests that lie at the base of the Rwenzori Mountain range.

Day 5: Morning Game drive and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Today, you will wake up on a warm breakfast at the lodge, check out and head for a short game drive as you leave the park for lake Mburo national park. Sunrise is the best time for wildlife spotting as animals tend to be the most active during the “golden hours” when the first rays of sunshine come to rest on the savannah. Elephants, buffalo, and several species of antelope are some of the characters you may come across today, and if you’re lucky, you may even spot a lion or leopard or both of them. Later you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch.

On arrival to Lake Mburo National Park, you will have a short game drive as you head to your accommodation.

Day 6: Morning Game drive and walking safari, and transfer to Kampala

Early morning breakfast and go for a game drive together with a walking safari in the park. During your drive, you expect to see a number of animals like zebras, impalas, elands, buffalos, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, topi, antelopes, reedbuck among others.

Later leave the park for kampala with a stopover at the Eqautor for lunch and some also be able to do souvenir shopping. Reaching kampala in the afternoon and drive to the airport for your late evening flight.

End of your 6 days Uganda Wildlife Safari
